At the beginning of just their 3rd day of Work Integrated Learning, students David Milne and James Makin are seen (on the left of this photo) presenting programs they’ve written using the vision system capabilities of the Omron / Techman collaborative robot to industry representatives at the July meeting of the Robotic Automation Emerging Technology Interest Group. It was a full house as 30 people from industries as diverse as Wine, Medical Products, Automation Machinery, University, TAFE, Plastics and Casting came together to share their automation experiences. Michael Haddy from AMGC also shared news about the Manufacturing Academy.

The group is led by Colin Thomas, TMI Hub Manager and the next meeting is at Australia’s highest volume Iron Casting facility, Intercast and Forge in Wingfield.
